About The Position
As a Stations and Facilities Development Intern at Amtrak, you will support station planning, design, signage, and facilities management, contributing to complex projects involving passenger rail stations and railroad facilities across the country. Working under close supervision of the Stations and Facilities Development team, you will collaborate with stakeholders including department leaders, project and program managers, functional leads, and external partners. The position applies technical and analytical skills to project reporting and closeout, scope development, facility development and management, and project coordination. The intern supports facilities development and management activities that may include assessment, procurement, construction, and closeout inspections. The role also contributes to station development, facility projects, asset management, condition surveys, and reporting, and researches industry practices and facility deficiencies. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Management, or Engineering at an accredited educational institution.
- Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate academic studies or have sophomore status at minimum.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.

Responsibilities
- Support project teams with status reporting, documentation, controls, and processes to meet audit requirements, department procedures, and enterprise standards.
- Support Facilities Development Managers with initiation and funding of eligible internal projects.
- Support project invoicing and performance monitoring.
- Support ongoing facilities management efforts and signage task-order projects, including data collection, station audits, audit validation, and status reporting.
- Support third-party station development through on-site scoping, station planning, plan review, and concept development.
- Assist with program development, site review, grant applications, and station planning for third-party facility projects beneficial to Amtrak.
- Support Asset Management and Facilities Condition Surveys and Reporting.
- Support Facilities Development Managers with facilities management projects.
- Research industry best practices and investigate facility deficiency cases.
- Support department goals of ensuring the physical plant meets or exceeds current standards.
- Support project performance reporting, completion, invoicing, and closeout.
- Help develop project scopes of work and project definitions.
- Coordinate logistics with project team members and subject matter experts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
