Shift: Graveyard hours 10:00 pm to 6:30 am Thursday through Monday (Off days: Tuesday and Wednesday), or Friday through Tuesday (Off days: Wednesday and Thursday). Job Summary: Stationary Engineer will be responsible for operating and maintaining utility equipment/systems such as boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, distillation units, pumps, valves and related systems such as water pretreatment, pure water, waste water, water for injection, plant vacuum and all media transmission sub-systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have a Los Angeles City Steam Engineer License 500hp minimum or be willing to obtain it.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in utility plant operations.
  • Knowledge of water pretreatment and pure water production.
  • Good communication.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment performance data.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. Must be familiar with all aspects of maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, but also take independent ownership of work.
  • Ability to lift/push up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to climb vertical heights.
  • Light plumbing skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day operations of Steam, Water Purification, Clean Air, Chilled Water, Refrigeration, Water for Injection, and Waster Water systems.
  • Operate and maintain Utility equipment such as boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, distillation units, pumps, valves and related systems such as water pre-treatment, pure water, water for injection, waste water, plant vacuum, and all distribution sub-systems.
  • Responsible for the safe, efficient operation of all systems under their control. Routinely they make regular rounds of equipment areas, reading meters and gauges, listening to the machinery, and adjusting the controls required.
  • Periodically they perform tests and take corrective action as needed.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting equipment or systems and making or arranging for all necessary repairs.
  • Responsible each shift to keep log of test requests and results, instrument readings, plus any preventative or corrective maintenance work performed
  • Required by the City of Los Angeles municipal code to have a valid 500 HP Steam Engineer license issued by the Los Angeles City Department of Building and Safety. (Must be willing to obtain one).
