About The Position

Keswick is seeking a dedicated and caring Stationary/Building Engineer to join our team in Baltimore, MD. This role is crucial in maintaining the continuous operation of our boiler room and associated plant equipment, including HVAC systems, in accordance with all applicable standards and regulations. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3rd Grade Stationary Engineer License
  • Valid driver's license
  • 3 years boiler experience as an operating engineer

Nice To Haves

  • 2nd Grade Stationary Engineer License
  • Experience in the healthcare industry

Responsibilities

  • Operates and monitors the boiler room and HVAC equipment per manufacturers' specifications to minimize downtime, avoid inconvenience to in-house customers, and extend equipment life.
  • Monitors the Building Automation system and adjusts equipment as needed.
  • Reads meters and gauges to verify operating conditions and maintains equipment room logbooks.
  • Conducts daily rounds to equipment rooms to ensure proper functioning and visually inspects equipment for malfunctions or repair needs.
  • Operates and monitors the emergency generator according to NFPA regulations, ensuring it is fueled and operational.
  • Operates the water treatment system and other closed-loop building systems, maintaining proper water treatment levels.
  • Ensures cooling towers are operating properly and maintains air handlers.
  • Maintains equipment logs and records.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment and components to ensure continuous operation.
  • Interprets schematics or equipment manuals for successful equipment repairs.
  • Creates parts orders with necessary information for facility equipment repairs.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on boiler and other plant equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, and pumps.
  • Cleans and maintains boilers and other major equipment.
  • Prepares for boiler inspections by opening boilers, performing cleaning and refractory patching/repair.
  • Closes boilers after inspection, ensuring safe and proper operation, and develops/follows up on any plans of correction.
  • Repairs or replaces lighting, electrical devices, and troubleshoots electrical systems.
  • Performs plumbing repairs, including sinks, faucets, toilets, and related fixtures; cleans drains and repairs pipes.
  • Solders, brazes, installs press fittings, or threads pipes as needed.
  • Performs carpentry duties such as repairing drywall, plaster walls, acoustical ceilings, doors, and furniture; assembles furniture and hangs shelves/pictures.
  • Performs exterior grounds work, including cleaning grounds by removing trash and debris.
  • Participates in snow/ice removal.
  • Completes assigned work orders.
  • Complies with all safety programs and procedures.
  • Provides support during emergency disaster situations.
  • Maintains a safe, neat, and productive work environment in all equipment and shop areas.
  • Maintains tools in good working condition, cleans them, and returns them to their proper place.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including exterior grounds work, snow/ice removal, and driving company vehicles.
