They also manage equipment for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and lighting in public buildings, municipal pumping stations, and incinerators. The role involves performing periodic inspections, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance. Stationary Engineers may take charge of a watch, directing subordinate personnel, and operating control consoles. They are also responsible for preparing requisitions for parts, instructing and training staff, reading and logging data from meters and gauges, and writing reports. Additionally, they may inspect low-pressure boilers and operate a motor vehicle.
