About The Position

The Stationary Engineer position at San Francisco Airport is responsible for maintenance of the location’s mechanical equipment ensuring this equipment is in good working order. Additionally, this position is responsible for general building maintenance including, but not limited to, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and minor construction. Maintaining lamps and light fixtures. Replacing 277 volt lamp ballasts live (power on) Maintaining fleet of vehicles, sweepers, scrubbers, pressure washers, electric carts and small equipment including conducting regularly scheduled tune-ups. Conducting minor repairs on starters, batteries, alternators, fuel filters, fan belts, tire rotation. Completing general building maintenance projects such as doors, closers, locks, sheetrock repair, concrete, windows, concrete anchors and sign installation. faucet, drain and pipe Providing minor plumbing repairs on faucets, drains and pipes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in general building maintenance including electrical, plumbing and mechanical maintenance.
  • Ability to maneuver Parking Access Control equipment.
  • Knowledge of proper safety procedures for all power and hand tools, including but not limited to drills, various saws, roto hammers, floor jacks, go-jacks and grinders.
  • Ability to lift heavy items including, barricades, sandbags and boxes.
  • Ability to tow and maneuver a trailer.
  • Self-directed and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times and push a cart containing equipment.
  • Must be capable of sustained physical activity.

Nice To Haves

  • This is a union position; the successful candidate will be required to join the International Union of Operating Engineers/Stationary Engineers Local 39. Periodic union dues and initiation fees will be required.
