About The Position

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire a Stationary Engineer 1st Class who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. This role is responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing all boilers, chillers, generators, and associated equipment daily. The Stationary Engineer will also coordinate outside contractor support as needed, assist in facilitating repairs and projects too large to be done in-house, obtain appropriate approval from leadership, and properly document transactions. Additionally, they will complete assigned monthly PM work orders on time, document all work performed in the CMMS computer database, and record data such as temperature, hours of operation, fuel consumption, temperature or pressure, water levels, voltage load, and generator balance. They will also record operation and maintenance actions taken during their shift in the operator’s logbook or through electronic system(s).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 3 - 5 years of experience in commercial or hospital central utility plant operations required
• Stationary Engineer License State of Maryland
• Valid US Driver’s License Required
• Strong knowledge of boiler safety and power distribution
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read blueprints
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
• Ability to prioritize and remain calm in demanding situations
• Able to use hand and power tools
