Requirements

  • Must have a doctoral level degree (i.e. PhD or PsyD) in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, or a related field.
  • Must be a licensed Licensed Psychologist in the state of Massachusetts.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory and correctional experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors all aspects of mental healthcare services related to mental health.
  • Monitors compliance of mental health services with applicable Federal, State, and local regulations, state contract requirements, and ACA expected practices and NCCHC standards.
  • Directs supervision of the Associate Statewide Mental Health Director.
  • Collaborates with all members of the VitalCore Regional Office management in carrying out the mission.
  • Maintains regular communication with the Corporate Deputy Chief of Behavioral Health to discuss behavioral health priorities and collaborate on projects.
  • Provides administrative guidance and support to the Regional Mental Health Directors.
  • Ensures that mental health and psychiatric staff effectively collaborate on patient care.
  • Oversees the quality and effectiveness of mental healthcare delivery to the patient population.
  • Conducts periodic audits of the quality of mental healthcare and documents the same according to contract or VitalCore requirements.
  • Maintains regular communication with the Associate Statewide Mental Health Director to discuss mental health service delivery at each site.
  • Conducts on-site visits with mental health teams assessing overall service delivery.
  • Guides team in process improvement at least annually, either on site or through tele-video.
  • Reviews results of all VitalCore QAPI and Clinical Programs surveys with regard to mental health services and provides oversight in the development, implementation, and follow-up monitoring processes.
  • Fosters positive relationships with the facilities’ leadership.
  • Coordinates and participates, where indicated, in annual peer review of licensed mental health staff.
  • Provides timely feedback, and if appropriate, coordinates 2nd opinion consultation when required.
  • Monitors outcomes under evidence-based clinical guidelines.
  • Develops strategic plans in collaboration with Regional Managers.
  • Focuses on interpretation of data and confirms development of satisfactory and appropriate action plans.
  • Participates in root cause analysis processes related to scope of responsibility.
  • Fosters a professional environment and supports seamless delivery of services by the site mental health professionals and medical via the Health Service Administrators, in collaboration with the Vice President of Operations or designee.
  • Develops lists of key individuals to effect optimal communication with client contacts and maintains contacts in accordance with company communication plan.
  • Maintains availability for any ACA/NCCHC accreditation or DOJ visits for all MADOC facilities.
  • Participates in mortality, morbidity, and sentinel event review as required by VitalCore policy or as requested by management.
  • Ensures participation of facility level mental health leadership in the Care Management daily meetings.
  • Participates in committees as assigned.
  • Participates in the development of onboarding and training materials for mental health processes and workflows.
  • Assists with clinical onboarding and training of Regional Mental Health Directors, and site mental health professionals as needed.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in all company software required for the position.
  • Oversees the development and delivery of a robust mental health training series to clinical staff that addresses the clinical demands of the workforce.
  • Consults with Vice President of Operations and HR on HR related issues when there is a concern regarding the ethics, provision of care, or license of any mental health staff that could result in disciplinary action.
  • Other duties as assigned.
