About The Position

Kalshi has defined a new category: prediction markets. Kalshi allows people to trade on the outcome of any events and turn any question about the future into a financial asset. Kalshi fought for years and legalized prediction markets in the US for the first time in history, is currently the fastest growing financial market in America, and has thousands of markets across politics, economics, financials, weather, tech, AI, culture and more. We believe prediction markets have the potential to be the largest financial market because they turn anything into a financial position. Our vision: well… build the largest financial market on the planet. Our mission: bring more truth to the world through the power of markets. Our culture is simple: we hire really talented people, work really hard, and enjoy the climb. We are looking for ambitious and exceptional people to join our (relatively small) team to help us build the next generation of financial markets. Kalshi is looking for someone to own our state-level regulatory and legislative strategy across the Western US. You'll be the person on the ground in your region, building relationships with representatives and regulators, understanding legislative developments, and moving the ball forward in some of our most complex and high-value states. In this role, you'll create the infrastructure, own the relationships, and develop the playbook for how Kalshi operates across CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, AK, and HI.

Requirements

  • Experience running state-level government affairs campaigns or working inside state government or an Attorney General's office -- ideally in a novel or contested regulatory environment
  • Deep familiarity with the political landscape of the Western US -- California's regulatory complexity, the Pacific Northwest's legislative dynamics, and the varied politics across mountain and island states
  • Proven ability to manage outside lobbyists and find great ones
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to create structure where there isn't any
  • Strong instincts on policy language
  • Willingness to travel and be hands-on when it counts

Responsibilities

  • Own state policy strategy across your region: tracking the legislative calendar, identifying opportunities, and sequencing campaigns
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and identify initiatives that present opportunities or risks to Kalshi's interests
  • Alert senior leadership and relevant business units to pending developments, and develop strategies and action plans to advance Kalshi's position
  • Build and maintain relationships with elected and appointed officials, legislative committees, and state agencies to advocate for and generate support for Kalshi's interests
  • Manage outside lobbyists in your states and hold them accountable to outcomes
  • Draft and shape the policy language we push for in state legislatures
  • Travel to priority states and be in the room when it matters
