About The Position

This position follows the school year calendar and is 43 weeks with potential opportunity to work in the summer. Applicants are asked to be available Mon- Fri from 7am-5:30pm in order to accommodate a schedule that is up to 35 hours. RIDE Teacher Assistant will be compensated $20.58 per hour for up to 35 hours a week. Additional hours may be available up to 40 hours per week at $16 per hour. Start date would be August 24th. A typical day for a RIDE Pre-K Teacher's Assistant will include: Working as a team with the Lead Teacher to provide a safe, healthy, structured, welcoming space to grow and learn. Singing, dancing, playing, teaching! Inspiring children to be lifelong learners. Partnering with families to nurture and care for their children. Showcasing your tech savvy skills by using an electronic daily tracking app. Assisting with the accreditation process as well as other quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience working with children in a group setting.
  • A personal demeanor that is warm and friendly.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including grammar and reading skills.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Organized and able to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Team-oriented and willing to work with others.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must meet state Pre-K education requirements, some options include Teacher Assistant Training Program approved by the RI Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, college coursework relevant to the early childhood education program, Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or college credits in Education, Child Development, Human Services, Recreation or related field.
  • At least 1 year working in an early learning/child care center.
  • Able to engage in physical exercise with children (walking, running, crawling, bending, twisting).
  • Visual and hearing acuity.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English, bilingual encouraged to apply.
  • Must pass national criminal background/fingerprints check.
  • Must pass Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Clearance Request (CPS).

Nice To Haves

  • Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of Teaching Strategies and/or Conscious Discipline preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
