Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. citizen before attending the academy on 7/6/2026.
  • You must be 21 years old by graduation on 12/18/2026.
  • High school or homeschool diploma or GED.
  • Read, write, and understand the English language at the eleventh-grade level (Test of Adult Basic Education required)
  • Initial Physical Abilities Test required
  • Applicants will undergo a background check, which includes reviewing criminal and traffic violations.
  • Full disclosure of drug use or criminal behavior is mandatory; any deception will result in dismissal from the selection process.
  • A full background investigation, polygraph, psychological evaluation, and medical exam.
  • Communicate effectively : Demonstrate proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English. (Please note: A Test of Adult Basic Education is required, and we will accept scores from Morrow & Associates, NLETC, or other Nebraska law enforcement agencies. Previous NSP test results are also acceptable if you passed.)
  • Perceive and interpret information: Accurately perceive color differences and hear verbal and radio communications.
  • Engage with diverse populations: Interact professionally with individuals from various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Work independently: Be self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
