About The Position

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety is looking for a State Inspector to work in the South East part of South Dakota. The South Dakota Department of Public Safety's Office of Weights, Measures & Inspections promotes efficiency by utilizing program staff throughout the state to conduct a variety of inspections for the Departments of Health, Education, Social Services, the State Fire Marshal, Lottery, as well as Weights and Measures. The inspections performed by staff offer diverse opportunities to meet and work with a variety of entities daily. This position is responsible for identifying violations of regulations to ensure compliance with State and Federal Rules. Selected candidates will need to discuss and explain violations with business managers; complete required reports; ensuring businesses and consumers are receiving fair treatment and protect the public from health and safety hazards. You have the availability to work remotely from home while being responsible for establishing your schedule, ensuring the requirements from our partner agencies are met. This position is NOT for building inspections, Motor Carrier, Highway Patrol or specifically Health Inspector. This is a full-time position with the Department of Public Safety.
