About The Position

Whip is seeking a State Vehicle Inspector to inspect, evaluate, document, and certify vehicles in accordance with Maryland state standards and COMAR 11.14. The inspector serves as a safety checkpoint for customers by thoroughly assessing vehicle systems, identifying unsafe or worn components, reinspecting vehicles after repairs, and issuing or denying certificates based on inspection results. The role emphasizes accurate, careful work rather than fleet quotas or flat-rate incentives, in a modern, flexible work environment where inspection expertise is respected. The inspector will use state-approved testing equipment, verify vehicles against manufacturer specifications and Maryland standards, maintain detailed inspection records, and communicate findings and required repairs clearly to vehicle owners and repair teams. Work takes place in authorized inspection facilities, service bays, or state inspection stations, with exposure to noise, fumes, machinery, and sometimes varying weather. The position requires standing, bending, lifting automotive components, and working under vehicles while following safety requirements and using personal protective equipment.
