About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery is a family-owned and operated company established in 1978, specializing in standard, next-day ground delivery. With corporate headquarters in St. Cloud, MN, the company employs over 1,800 people and has expanded throughout the Midwest. The State Fleet Manager will oversee the fleet maintenance department for the state, managing its day-to-day duties.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of mechanical experience preferred
  • Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR successfully complete Company paid CDL training program
  • Excellent management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of fleet management and operations
  • Ability to influence, develop and maintain good working relationships across a variety of functional areas and customers
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including meeting deadlines and achieving results
  • Thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local, and company safety policies
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and decision making considering relative costs and benefits of potential actions; critical thinking logic and reasoning to identify solutions
  • Proficient with computer-based management systems and Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
  • Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet
  • Work environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive
  • Work environment may involve hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check

  • Post secondary education in the automotive or heavy-duty field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate tasks and activities of the company's fleet auto repair shop, working on a variety of gas- and diesel-powered fleet vehicles
  • Prepare maintenance schedules for fleet vehicles; notify drivers when maintenance is to be performed
  • Enforce safety, DOT, and company policies
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations and available funding
  • Perform repairs and maintenance for company vehicles and equipment
  • Maintain the state's database of maintenance and repair records for fleet vehicles
  • Oversee the shop inventory, help fill part orders, and supplies for the state
  • Assist and install ELD's for drivers and set up new trucks and trailers
  • Coordinate road calls, repairs, and recover vehicles post-accident as needed
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
  • Facilitate monthly leadership meetings
  • Hire, train, discipline, and onboard new staff
  • Perform other required duties as assigned
