About The Position
A national accounting and advisory firm with a growing tax practice is hiring a State and Local Tax Manager focused on income and franchise tax. This manager will lead multistate compliance and consulting engagements while developing the next generation of tax professionals. The firm offers a hybrid schedule, meaningful client ownership, and a clear path toward senior leadership. The ideal candidate is a seasoned SALT professional who manages multiple client relationships with confidence and enjoys developing a team. You combine deep multistate technical knowledge with sound business judgment and are ready to help grow the practice in your local market. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Progressive state and local income tax experience in public accounting
- Active CPA license, JD, or equivalent professional credential
- Deep knowledge of multistate apportionment and nexus rules
- Experience supervising teams and managing multiple engagements
- Strong client communication and technical writing skills
Nice To Haves
- Master of Taxation or LLM in taxation
- Big Four or national firm SALT experience
- Experience with ASC 740 state provision reviews
- Exposure to technology or life sciences clients
- Established professional network in the local market
Responsibilities
- Manage state income and franchise tax compliance and consulting engagements
- Advise clients on nexus, apportionment, combined reporting, and filing positions
- Review returns, provisions, and technical memos prepared by the team
- Lead planning, voluntary disclosure, audit defense, and refund projects
- Manage engagement budgets, billing, and client relationships
- Coach, review, and develop senior associates and associates
- Support business development and proposals within the local market
