About The Position

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Complete initial training to become a mentor. Engage with student veterans. Provide information support to veteran students to increase awareness of the resources available. Shows initiative by getting to know first-year veterans through outreach and engagement, and check-ins. Maintains a visible and approachable role within the CVSC and is available for veteran students. Refer students to university and community resources. Document veteran outreach and engagement. Increase campus awareness of the mentor program and specific needs of veteran students. Time Commitment: Minimum of 10-15 hours weekly, may work up to 40 hours. Attend initial training sessions. Attend group events such as orientation and preview, as well as other events as needed. Reach out to veteran students at least once each week. This includes University of Florida Online, PaCE, residential and commuter students. Ensure course schedule does not conflict with availability to take part in various activities with program. Participate in scheduled calls and/or meetings with CVSC Staff to discuss challenges and successes. Note: This is a time-limited summer semester OPS position, beginning Monday, May 4, 2026, and ending Friday, August 7, 2026.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled student, or recent graduate, of the University of Florida in good academic student with GPA at 2.5 or above.
