About The Position

At Edina Country Club, we are seeking energetic, reliable individuals who enjoy working outdoors and being part of the game of golf. Starters play an important role in supporting daily golf operations and creating a welcoming and organized experience for members and guests. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy interacting with people, staying organized, and working as part of a team in a fast-paced golf environment. As an added benefit, employees may have opportunities to utilize the golf facilities when available and at the discretion of the Golf Professional staff. The Starter supports daily golf operations by managing the flow of play on the golf course and creating a welcoming and organized experience for members and guests. Responsibilities include greeting and checking in golfers, coordinating tee times, monitoring pace of play, communicating course rules and expectations, assisting with golf operations, and maintaining the starter area. This position plays an important role in providing a high level of service while supporting an efficient and enjoyable golf experience.

Requirements

Ability to work outdoors in summer weather conditions
Ability to remain organized and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Reliable transportation
Availability to work mornings, afternoons, weekends, and holidays as needed

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of golf etiquette, rules, and pace of play preferred
Prior golf course or customer service experience preferred

Responsibilities

Greet members and guests as they arrive at the first tee
Coordinate and manage daily tee times and starting order
Ensure all golfers are properly checked in prior to play
Monitor and maintain pace of play throughout the course
Communicate course rules, policies, and daily course conditions to players
Provide scorecards, pencils, local rules, and other golf-related materials
Assist with assigning golf carts and coordinating player groups
Dispense range balls in accordance with club policies
Maintain organization and cleanliness of the starter area and surrounding facilities
Support the golf staff with tournaments, clinics, outings, and daily operational needs
Provide friendly and professional service to members and guests
Other duties as assigned.
