About The Position

A Starter/Ranger is responsible for the overall management of orderly play by members and guests on the golf courses. This role involves ensuring smooth operations, communicating course conditions, and assisting players.

Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
A minimum of three months related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledgeable regarding the general rules of the play of golf.
Ability to stand for several hours consecutively.
Physically able to operate a golf cart, getting in and out periodically for several hours a day.
Ability to tolerate adverse weather conditions.
Good interpersonal skills.
Must be aware of surroundings with an understanding of a golf environment.
Must have the ability to see and react to surroundings including errant golf balls.
Must understand and follow proper golf etiquette while completing tasks.

Responsibilities

Manage orderly play by members and guests on the golf courses.
Check tee sheets and direct players to the starting tee in a timely fashion.
Inform players about daily course conditions, special playing conditions, and general guidelines.
Monitor specific conditions on the courses and track the timeliness of play.
Be accessible to players for service or assistance at all times.
Check for payment vouchers of players.
Check for proper functioning of certain equipment in and around the golf course.
Report faulty golf course conditions.
Keep accurate records.
Perform other duties as assigned, such as returning abandoned carts, delivering messages, people, and equipment.
