About The Position

The Start-Up Technician I is responsible for performing start-up procedures and functionality checks on newly installed HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems and equipment. This role ensures systems are operating correctly and in accordance with project specifications. The technician completes all required documentation and submits it to the appropriate supervisor or manager. The position involves regular interaction with clients, internal teams, and vendors. Working under general supervision, the Start-Up Technician I follows established procedures, with some discretion to adjust based on technical conditions in the field.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • EPA Certification is mandatory.
  • Candidates must also maintain necessary registrations, professional licenses, and certifications relevant to the position.
  • 2-5 years of experience
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong interpersonal and people skills with good written and oral communications capability.
  • Performs as a self-managed individual.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to candidates with vocational training, apprenticeships, or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Craft training is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts start-up and functionality checks on newly installed HVAC, plumbing, and electrical components, equipment, and systems.
  • Proficient in disassembling and reassembling basic HVAC equipment for troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
  • Collaborates in disassembling and reassembling large or small mechanical equipment for troubleshooting and preventive maintenance purposes.
  • Diagnoses HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and/or electrical system performance through observation, testing, and setup as required per plans and specifications.
  • Ensures newly installed equipment is level and aligned.
  • Maintains continuous status report on work completed.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle and trailer as evidenced by past driving performance record and to adhere to all company safety requirements.
  • Maintains vehicle, equipment and tools.
  • Purchases materials and issues purchase order numbers to suppliers.
