About The Position

Housing & Food Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Starbucks Barista (Food Service Worker 1 (NE S WFSE Campuswide)) to join their team. Reporting to Starbucks General Manager, the Starbucks Barista is responsible for preparing and serving food and beverages in a Starbucks licensed store on the UW campus. The work schedule for this position is Sunday-Thursday 11:15am to 7:45pm.

Requirements

Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

Deliver exceptional Starbucks-branded customer service by providing prompt, friendly, and accurate service while engaging customers about coffee and beverage offerings.
Prepare and serve high-quality beverages, food items, and specialty products in accordance with Starbucks standards for consistency, portioning, and presentation.
Foster a positive and collaborative team environment through effective communication, cooperation, and relationship building with coworkers.
Perform barista and bar back duties, including beverage preparation, food packaging, and replenishment of display items.
Monitor beverage and food preparation to ensure compliance with Starbucks quality, food safety, and operational standards.
Operate point-of-sale systems and process payments, including credit cards, Husky Cards, Starbucks app transactions, and loyalty rewards.
Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and consistent attendance while supporting UW Dining’s mission and values.
Follow Washington State health codes and Starbucks food handling guidelines, including temperature monitoring and sanitation compliance.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace by participating in store cleaning, closing procedures, and reporting operational or safety concerns.
Troubleshoot and report equipment issues involving espresso machines, grinders, and other food service equipment.
Complete inventory and stocking tasks, including receiving deliveries, rotating products, maintaining displays, and monitoring supply levels.
Utilize CBORD systems for inventory counts, recipes, and production sheets while completing required Starbucks certifications and training.
