About The Position

NorthWind Technical Services LLC is seeking a Standards Engineer III to report to our Sabetha, KS HQ location but work at multiple unanticipated locations in the USA. This role involves researching, developing, implementing, teaching, and maintaining software automation standards and best practices to ensure compliance, safety, and quality across projects. The engineer will ensure that standard programs and processes are maintained in a highly regulated and process-driven manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer) or other related field.
  • 4 years of relevant software automation development experience.
  • 3 years of experience in programming and development following ISA-101 standards.
  • 3 years of experience in Ladder Logic programming.
  • 1 year of experience in field experience in controls and automation.
  • Certifications: Rockwell Automation, Ignition Gold.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation and revision of software automation engineering standards, templates, and procedures, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and revise software automation engineering applications, using software automation engineering standards to write PLC, HMI, and computer programs.
  • Test programs to validate proper functionality and provide feedback to the standards team based on the results from the use of team’s standards and templates.
  • Monitor adherence to established standards and evaluate the effectiveness of implementation across projects.
  • Provide technical support to project teams, addressing queries and offering solutions related to standards and compliance issues.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation related to standards, templates, processes, and compliance activities.
  • Create training materials and conduct training sessions to educate staff on standards, best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the development of innovative solutions to enhance standards and practices.
