About The Position

A standardized patient (SP) is a person who has been trained to accurately portray a specific patient role (i.e., symptoms, personality traits, and other characteristics), assess clinical skills, and provide constructive feedback about a student's performance during a simulation. In this role, you will receive case materials in advance that must be memorized to create the patient. Requirements

• Completion of SP trainings with Washburn School of Nursing.
• Ability to portray a patient in an accurate and standardized method.
• Maintain confidentiality of the simulation and student performance.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and flexible.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills when providing feedback to students.
• Ability to use web forms, basic Microsoft applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel), and videoconferencing applications (e.g. Zoom).

Responsibilities

• SP's participate in providing realistic training environments and in the teaching and feedback for students at Washburn University.
• SP exercises are scheduled based on the nursing students' curricular schedules.
• Trainings and events occur during the week, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8am and 6pm.
• SP's are matched with cases depending on the schedule and demographic required for various cases.
