About The Position

The SAFE-T Center is hiring and training Standardized Patients (SPs) who are essential for medical-forensic education. SPs help Forensic Nurses develop and practice trauma-informed communication skills and medical-forensic interview techniques. They also assist nurses in practicing physical and forensic exam skills in a simulated clinical environment before working with actual patients. SPs are trained to embody real patients and specific case scenarios, repeating their stories consistently to train multiple nurses. This role requires individuals to be comfortable with GYN examinations and speculum insertions, and the current training seeks individuals with female birth anatomy.

Requirements

  • Comfortable with GYN (genital) examinations and speculum insertions.
  • Individuals with female birth anatomy are sought for this particular training.
  • Must be reliable, punctual and dependable.
  • Be able to memorize case materials.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to provide feedback to students.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Ability to participate in student exam by getting on/off a standard exam table, performing range of motion with your arms, legs and hips and putting on and tying a patient gown with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to place legs in gynecological stirrups for an extended period of time with or without accommodation.
  • Normal range of vision, hearing and speech.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a victim of violence in encounters with Forensic Nurses and respond with programmed responses according to the questions asked.
  • Portray a particular case or patient presentation accurately and consistently.
  • Represent patient viewpoint and provide individualized feedback to nurses on clinical, interpersonal skills, and professionalism in a constructive manner.
  • Be reliable, punctual, and dependable.
  • Memorize case materials.
  • Provide feedback to students using strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Participate in student exams by getting on/off a standard exam table, performing range of motion with arms, legs, and hips, and putting on and tying a patient gown with or without accommodation.

Benefits
