About The Position

The Dr. Angelo and Alberta Anaclerio Learning and Assessment Center (ALAC), an integral part of the College of Medicine, invites individuals aged 18 and above to embark on a unique role as Standardized Patients (SPs). The ALAC is a dynamic teaching facility that plays a crucial role in training the next generation of healthcare providers. As a Standardized Patient, you'll step into the shoes of diverse individuals, portraying a range of behaviors, emotions, and medical symptoms. Through immersive role-play, you'll aid health professions students in developing their clinical and interpersonal skills during simulated medical encounters conducted within our cutting-edge center.

Requirements

  • Completion of the ninth (9th) grade
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Punctuality
  • Reliability
  • Willingness to collaborate seamlessly with the ALAC team, fellow SPs, and students

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to memorize detailed case scenarios and recall specific aspects of the learner interaction post-encounter.
  • Comfortable with undergoing a non-invasive and limited physical examination as part of the simulated scenarios.
  • Flexible availability.
  • Prior acting and/or teaching experience is a bonus.
  • Interest in healthcare, acting, or teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Portray diverse individuals, including a range of behaviors, emotions, and medical symptoms.
  • Participate in immersive role-play to aid health professions students in developing clinical and interpersonal skills.
  • Be interviewed and examined by students as part of their learning process.
  • Provide insightful evaluations of students' performance, guided by faculty-provided standards.
