About The Position

The Hill-Rom Simulation Center at Marian University is hiring part-time Standardized Patients (SPs). A Standardized Patient is recruited and trained to portray the characteristics of a real patient, providing students with opportunities to learn, practice skills, receive evaluation, and obtain feedback in a simulated clinical environment. The position supports Marian University’s Catholic Franciscan mission and identity. Standardized Patients work varied hours on an on-call basis, as needed, and report to the Coordinator of Standardized Patients. The role involves portraying a trained patient character, presenting case information consistently during simulated histories or examinations, recalling and scoring student behaviors, and providing constructive verbal feedback when appropriate. SPs also participate in group training or mentorship of entry-level Standardized Patients and maintain the confidentiality of case, student, and evaluation information. Work takes place in an interior medical or clinical environment. Physical effort and exposure to physical risk are very limited. The employee must be able to move all extremities, step up and down from an exam table, and quickly change from a gown to clothing.
