The Standardized Patient reports directly to the Coordinator of the Nursing Simulation Lab. The primary responsibility of this role is to portray the characteristics of a real patient, simulating all aspects of created scenarios, primarily within a simulated in-patient setting. This includes accurately representing the history of the current problem, affect/behavior, and physical findings in a standardized, accurate, and reliable manner. The Standardized Patient must be able to accurately memorize, retain, and portray scenario facts. Scenarios may be audio and videotaped for evaluative purposes. Additionally, the position requires assisting with simulation tasks such as resetting scenarios and occasionally offering feedback. This is an "Extra Help" position, expected to work approximately 100-200 hours per academic semester and 50 hours during the summer semester, with hours not exceeding 28 per week.
