About The Position

The Stand-up forklift operator is responsible for safely operating a forklift while performing warehouse and material handling duties. This role involves positioning lifting forks under loaded pallets, transporting loads, stacking materials, and maintaining an efficient and orderly warehouse environment. The operator will also be responsible for inventory management, inspecting materials, loading/unloading, and performing routine maintenance on the forklift. Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor to support overall warehouse operations.

Requirements

  • Valid active stand-up forklift certification
  • Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees, and to read and understand safety rules, operation, maintenance, and procedure manuals
  • Proficiency in basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • 1-year certificate from a college or technical school; or Three to six months of related experience; or Two-year technical degree or equivalent with 3-5 years of experience in a related field
  • Ability to read and understand work orders and written instructions, utilize measuring devices such as rulers, tapes, and calipers, and use a computer to check stock and print tags
  • Knowledge of products handled in the warehouse
  • Ability to use banding equipment
  • Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobility
  • Demonstrated reliable work history
  • Must be detail-oriented with a strong focus on precision and quality in all tasks

Responsibilities

  • Drive the stand-up forklift and control the movement of lifting apparatus by moving levers and pressing pedals
  • Position lifting forks under loaded pallets or skids, transport loads to designated areas, and stack materials by raising and lowering the lifting device
  • Maintain material in an efficient and orderly manner by size and grade for easy retrieval
  • Inventory materials on the work floor and supply workers with materials as needed
  • Inspect materials for damage or shortages and report findings to the supervisor
  • Load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting devices
  • Perform routine maintenance on the forklift, including lubricating the truck, recharging batteries, filling the fuel tank, or replacing the liquefied gas tank
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support warehouse operations
