About The Position

Magnolia River is looking for a Stand By Watch technician to work in the Waco/Temple, Texas area. This role is responsible for coordinating and monitoring of third-party exposing Company transmission and distribution systems and facilities, as applicable for external and internal excavators for the purpose of preventing damages. Performs such work in accordance with Company, regulatory and safety procedures. Magnolia River is an engineering, inspection, GIS, software, and consulting company focused on the utilities, oil and gas, water, and pipeline infrastructure industries. Compensation range is $21-23 an hour. Company vehicle provided.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to read construction prints.
  • Ability to rapidly establish creditability and relationships with a broad range of individuals.
  • Ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a related underground construction industry is preferred.
  • Hands-on construction or excavation experience is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee pipeline and distribution high pressure crossings by third-party contractors.
  • Keep daily report of construction contractors progress on job(s).
  • Attend area North Texas Damage Prevention Council meeting when possible.
  • Work with client crews and outside contractors to have excavations performed with the purpose of damage prevention.
  • Maintain accurate project records during construction.
  • Verify locates placed by others to validate approximate location of underground facilities (transmission and distribution systems).
  • Conduct investigations of natural gas facility damages.
  • Maintain working relationship with area excavators, municipalities, and Client personnel responsible for excavation activities. Report any suspected damages to Client’s system.
  • Responsible for contact with area excavators, municipalities, and Client personnel responsible for excavation activities.
  • Verify the accuracy of client maps and records as they relate to damage prevention.
  • Read and interpret natural gas pipeline system maps.
  • Complete and maintain accurate encroachment documentation to comply with client and regulatory requirements.
  • May be required to hold stand-by duty, emergency call outs and occasional extensive hours.
  • Identify, address, and report safety and encroachment issues to resolution and completion.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all incidents, near misses and unsafe activities to the client, supervision and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
