About The Position

This role involves operating stamping and press machinery in a prototype development environment. The operator will be responsible for assisting with tooling setup, die spotting and tryouts, and completing development processes. Key duties include performing die changes, producing stampings, managing quality measures, and maintaining a safe and clean work area. The position requires adherence to company policies, effective communication, and active participation in quality and continuous improvement initiatives. The operator must also be able to interact professionally with customers and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Familiar with Automotive Prototype Die Development, GD&T and blue print reading.
  • Must be able to operate most of the following pieces of machinery: 90, 5”, & 7” Grinders, Crane, Drills, Air 7 Electric, Hydraulic Presses, Mechanical Presses, Shear, Spotting Press, Toggle Presses
  • Ability to learn and retain training.
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude.
  • Possess basic math skills.
  • Must be a self-motivator and be willing to take related courses.
  • Ability to analyze situations and provide possible solutions.
  • Possess basic computer skills and work with required software.
  • Be able to effectively communicate with others- either verbally or written.
  • Ability to apply technical experience and knowledge to unsupervised ongoing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in set-up soft and hard tooling in press.
  • Assist with spotting all dies.
  • Assist in Tryout of all dies.
  • Complete Binder Development.
  • Perform die changes as necessary.
  • Blank Development.
  • Develop Die.
  • Meet all requirements for Press Show.
  • Perform die barbering as necessary.
  • Produce stampings.
  • Track and manage any QOS measures assigned.
  • Understand housekeeping requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Be safety conscious and understand all potential safety hazards in work environment.
  • Practice and promote safe work practices throughout the plant.
  • Promote team concepts and participate in teams.
  • Complete necessary paperwork.
  • Understand the needs of internal/external customers.
  • Understand and follow Peregrine policies and practices and any other legal requirements.
  • Must present a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must be able to interact appropriately with customers.
  • Must be an active participant in achieving and maintaining quality goals and continuous improvement activities.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Soft Tool Development Area Manager.
