About The Position

Carpenter & Paterson, Inc. is hiring a full-time Stainless Steel Welder at its Ellijay, Georgia location. The company manufactures and distributes pipe hangers and supports for commercial and industrial applications. Fabricators cut, join, and shape metal and other materials using heat and a range of tools. The available shift is 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Requirements

• Experience with MIG/MMA welding processes.
• Ability to measure quickly and accurately to minimize scrap.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Ability to stand and work in a warm environment for an 8-hour shift.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently.
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing over 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Grind and preheat steel with a torch.
• Move materials using cranes and/or forklifts.
• Weld components in accordance with weld procedures.
• Perform visual welding inspections.
• Undertake weld qualification tests as required.
• Assist the department foreman in meeting production targets.
• Maintain quality standards.
• Keep the work area clean and orderly.
• Notify managers about non-conformities and facility or equipment repair needs.
• Maintain a healthy and safe working environment.
