About The Position

GE Vernova is committed to addressing the climate crisis and transitioning to a lower-carbon energy future. The Hydro Power division specializes in hydroelectric solutions, including turbines and alternators, and offers a wide range of services for new and existing power plants. The Methods and Tooling group defines maintenance, handling, lifting, and transport operations and designs the necessary tooling. This internship role supports the Supplier Quality Expert team, contributing to functional, business, and company-wide objectives. The intern will help develop processes, manage complex issues, and participate in long-term planning and company strategy. Key involvement includes the ITO (Inquiry to Order) and OTR (Order to Remittance) processes, ensuring quality and technical aspects with suppliers and internally throughout project execution, and verifying quality documentation compliance. The role also assists in supplier and product qualification.

Requirements

  • Student in mechanical or industrial engineering.
  • Completed 2 academic sessions.
  • Completed courses in plan reading, GD&T, and material properties.
  • Fluent in English and French.
  • Proficiency in office software (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Audit certification.
  • NDT certification.
  • Experience in the manufacturing process and inspection of critical welded structures.
  • Experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering.
  • Six Sigma training and certification or equivalent quality certification.
  • Knowledge of additional languages (Spanish, German, etc.).
  • Knowledge of quality systems - ISO 9000.
  • Knowledge of international standards (such as ASME/ISO/DIN, etc.).
  • Expertise in special processes (Machining, Painting, Welding) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier non-conformity and deviation activities (SDR/NCR).
  • Ensure the quality documentation compliance of products manufactured by the supplier.
  • Act as the interface between the supplier and other organizational functions such as the Inspector, Shipper, and Engineering.
  • Initiate the supplier claim process (VBB) for high-cost NCRs.
  • Participate in supplier inspections to ensure component quality meets design requirements.
  • Participate in supplier audits to ensure compliance with GE's quality, cost, delivery, and safety requirements.
  • Manage underperforming suppliers regularly, considering audit results, planning, and manufacturing issues.
  • Promote continuous improvement in supplier quality, cycle time, and delivery performance.
  • Support quality and cost reduction initiatives in procurement.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives to improve part quality.
  • Analyze NCR trends to identify underperforming suppliers and recurring defects, and implement action plans.
  • Request supplier eligibility documentation (MMR) in accordance with compliance rules.
