About The Position

Chameleon Theatre is seeking a Stage Manager for their production of “Willy Wonka Jr.”. This role is ideal for someone who loves theatre and the behind-the-scenes work that makes a production successful. The Stage Manager will have the opportunity to share this passion with children of various ages and talents, while showcasing their organization and management skills. This position offers the chance to teach children new skills, self-expression, discipline, and how to be silly, all while getting paid to do something they love.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in stage management, preferably in a theatre setting.
  • General knowledge of technical theatre, including lighting, sound, and set design.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills with effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Previous experience interacting with children is required.
  • Friendly yet assertive demeanor to maintain classroom behavior and interact with parents.
  • Ability to maintain discretion with regard to confidential matters and/or information.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook or other email system for communication purposes.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college coursework and/or other related training and/or experience.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the smooth operation and success of the theatrical production.
  • Act as the central point of communication between the director, cast, crew, and production team.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the production process from pre-rehearsal planning through to the final performance.
  • Create and maintain detailed rehearsal schedules and production timelines.
  • Ensure every member of the team is aware of their responsibilities and deadlines and hold them to it.
  • Spearhead volunteer communication to ensure set creation and performance day positions are covered.
  • Organize and manage all rehearsal materials, including scripts, props, and set pieces.
  • Ensure the smooth running of rehearsals and performances.
  • Keep the Google Drive for participants up to date with all needed materials.
  • Call cues and manage the backstage area during performances.
  • Ensure that all technical and logistical elements are executed flawlessly.
  • Assist with coordinating tech rehearsals and performances.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
