About The Position

We are looking for enthusiastic and focused students who are ready to dedicate their time, energy, and talent into helping produce over 2000 events each year for the college. The Berklee Stage Crew is responsible for the technical production work in Berklee's 6 performance halls. Every employee is required to develop proficiency in live sound, concert lighting, live recording, video for stage, and theater stagecraft. The duties encompass all aspects related to producing hundreds of live events each year, as well as the maintenance and upkeep of the venues. Prior experience in this type of work is preferred, but not always required depending on applicant's fulfilling other eligibility requirements, and dependent on interview. Due to the large amount of productions we support, one of our main considerations when hiring is availability. We have to ensure we can support multiple events from early in the day until late evening every day of the week. To learn and be effective in this position you will need to have time and energy available to commit to this new opportunity. It's not a commitment to be entered into lightly, please make sure you are aware and fully prepared to add this new time and energy commitment into your busy Berklee life.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program (exceptions apply for summer employment with pre-registration for fall).
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA (students in their first semester are exempt).
  • Federal Work Study students may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • At least 3 semesters remaining at Berklee (may be waived for individuals with advanced understanding and experience in stagecraft).
  • Provide weekly class schedule and availability.
  • Availability must include shifts that can start early in the morning and end late at night.
  • If your schedule does not have availability before 5PM on any weekdays then this job will not fit.
  • Communication Skills: Required to interact and communicate with Berklee faculty, staff, students, professional bands and musicians, general audience members.
  • Organized and Responsible: Lateness or missing work is not tolerated.
  • Self Motivated: Required to constantly develop skills by staying engaged and inquisitive.
  • Knowledge in Live Audio, Lighting, Stagecraft.
  • Calm Under Pressure: Ability to keep calm and clear-headed at all times in a tense live concert environment.
  • Ability to move heavy equipment, climb stairs, and ladders.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in this type of work is preferred, but not always required depending on applicant's fulfilling other eligibility requirements, and dependent on interview.
  • Experience in stagecraft may waive the requirement of having at least 3 semesters remaining at Berklee.
  • Experience in live audio, lighting, and stagecraft is preferred, but may not be required if you meet all other qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Actively try to educate yourself and expose yourself to as many different experiences as possible.
  • Dedicate time to the skills of audio engineering, lighting, and stage craft.
  • Operate safely and efficiently in a live concert environment.
  • Move heavy equipment, climb stairs, and ladders.
