About The Position

Works collaboratively with nurse leaders in planning for and coordinating the best use of staffing resources. Act as a resource, responsive to phone calls, email requests for tips and guidance in the operation of OneStaff including staffer, scheduler and controller functions. Validate with nursing department leadership for best course of action for situations that have no clear guidelines or policies. When identifying a learning opportunity of a team member, gives direct feedback and offers incidental teaching. If ongoing or formal training is indicated, refer to supervisor and suggest options. Collects and documents all staffing data per unit standard. Assesses and balances staffing needs for Clinical units using established staffing guidelines, contractual language and other relevant policy procedures. Assesses available staff for assigned units within established timelines, completes all unit assignments. Floats staff according to established guidelines. Determines vacancies and completes calls to employees/agencies as needed to fill open shifts for both RN's and nursing assistants. Provides preliminary needs and final names to CSO/LSO per guidelines. Cancels employees/agencies personnel according to policy. If unable to fill vacancies, notifies unit/manager/Admin. Liaison/Director per guidelines. Confirms pre-booked registry, SRN and bidshift employees. Obtains necessary incentive approval as appropriate. Provides clear, accurate and timely reports to team members, unit charge person, Admin. Liaison, and appropriate manager. Maintains up-to-date, accurate daily staffing sheets. Consistently documents accurate information in One-Staff. Keeps Charge nurses, AL and fellow staffers informed of changes in staffing projections for the next 24-hour period. Performs all required One-Staff functions per unit standard. Communicates staffing activities, outcomes, and changes to other members of the staffing team and unit, through documentation and/or verbal report per department. Supports unit leadership team in editing the employee data base to reflect changes in status of employee. Provides report to unit leadership to assist in the analysis of individual employee attendance or unit trends. Enters float pool schedules timely and accurately, ensuring adherence to the per diem agreement. Assigns float pool to units as needed, including documentation in One-Staff. Solicits peer critiques for float pool daily and logs as required. Updates schedule with ongoing changes according to department guidelines. Refers administrative issues to appropriate supervisor. Proactively manages the lift team schedule. Documents sick calls, tardy and no-shows including notification to supervisor.
