About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Staff Water Engineer to join and grow their Water team in Clifton Park, NY. This role will leverage expertise and technical knowledge to deliver design work for water/wastewater clients in New York and across North America. The engineer will evaluate, plan, design, and support the management of projects for water/wastewater treatment and conveyance systems, including pipelines, treatment plants, and pumping facilities. Responsibilities include exercising judgment on project details, making preliminary selections of engineering alternatives, and completing technical reports with guidance from senior team members. Occasional fieldwork is expected, such as site visits, construction inspection, sampling, water quality analyses, asset inventory, flow monitoring, technology evaluations, and process troubleshooting. The role also involves supporting professional engineering services during construction, including observation, submittal review, RFI responses, and permit closeouts. With guidance, the engineer will manage tasks as a project resource, ensuring adherence to budget, timeframe, and quality objectives, while meeting client expectations. This includes conducting investigations and analyses, preparing documentation, and ensuring compliance with Arcadis requirements and national standards. Collaboration within an interdisciplinary team is key, involving communication with project managers and clients, contributing to technical issue resolution, providing technical guidance to team members, and coordinating with other design disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to commute to project sites.
  • 4 years’ of experience in engineering
  • EIT Certification

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, plan, design and support management of projects for water / wastewater treatment and conveyance (pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities).
  • Exercise judgment on details of work and make preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Complete technical reports with guidance from more senior team members.
  • Perform occasional fieldwork activities such as site visits, construction inspection, sampling, water quality analyses, asset inventory, flow monitoring set-up and monitoring, technology evaluations, and plant operations information, process troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Provide support of professional engineering services during construction: construction observation, review of submittals and shop drawings, responses to request for information (RFIs) and permit closeouts.
  • Manage tasks as a project resource, completing allocated activities to meet budget, timeframe and quality objectives and meeting or exceeding client expectations.
  • Carry out investigations and analyses to support the development of technical solutions.
  • Prepare documentation and reports ensuring accuracy and compliance with Arcadis requirements and relevant national standards and codes of practice.
  • Work in an interdisciplinary team to liaise with project managers/team leaders and clients to ensure effective communication on project matters.
  • Contribute to the resolution of technical issues on projects.
  • Provide technical guidance to other team members.
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design or solution.
