About The Position

As a Staff Therapist within Rochester Institute of Technology’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CaPS), the successful candidate will provide high-quality, culturally responsive mental health services to RIT students and contribute to the university’s commitment to student well-being, success, and belonging. This 11-month position is embedded part-time within the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences (GCCIS), where the therapist will provide individual counseling services to GCCIS students and consultation and support to GCCIS faculty and staff. The therapist will also remain an active member of the CaPS team, collaborating with colleagues across the university to promote mental health, prevention, outreach, and crisis response initiatives. This position requires independent licensure and, when applicable, diagnostic privilege within one year of the start date. Requirements

  • Master's degree in related field
  • 3 years of clinical experience
  • Professional Certification as: Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT), or Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or ability to obtain within one year of hire
  • Knowledge of diverse mental health issues and evidence-based therapeutic interventions
  • Knowledge of conducting therapeutic sessions, both individually and in groups
  • Skill in both oral and written communications
  • Skill in delivering educational and outreach programs in a university setting
  • Skill in training graduate students and new therapists
  • Ability to handle complex, rapidly changing clinical situations, perform crisis intervention, and develop effective treatment plans
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other campus departments to promote holistic student wellness
  • Ability to provide clinical services to diverse student population
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts individual and group therapy sessions tailored to the mental health needs of a diverse student population
  • Performs crisis intervention and conducts intake assessments to design appropriate treatment plans
  • Develops and delivers mental health outreach and educational programs to students and campus partners
  • Provides didactic training to graduate trainees and new therapists in mental health fields
  • Completes and maintains accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation and participates in case collaboration meetings
  • Collaborates with campus stakeholders to enhance mental health services and promote inclusive wellness initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned
