Collins Aerospace is looking to fill Staff Technician/Flight Test Mechanic position to support the G400 Flight Test program in Savannah, Georgia. The Staff Technician/ Flight Test Mechanic will primarily perform nacelle structural retrofits, repairs, and rework for hardware at Gulfstream’s Savannah facilities. The position is working onsite at our Savannah, GA facility.

Requirements

  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • 4 or more years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, and/or construction/facilities.
  • Experience working with hand tools (electrical tools, hand cutters, measuring equipment, light equipment, drill motors and air-powered tools).

Nice To Haves

  • Aviation structural experience.
  • Familiar with Nacelle components and their operation.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and engineering drawings to assemble equipment.
  • Composite repair experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repairs / rework on Collins Aerospace nacelle products (Inlet Cowls, Fan Cowls, Thrust Reversers, Aprons, and Engine Build Up) to support the G400 flight test program.
  • Performs assembly operations and processes.
  • Assembles & fabricates sheet metal.
  • Reads blueprints, follows written and verbal instructions, and performs basic math calculations.
  • Works in a team environment, participates in compliance inspection continuous improvement (CI) activities.
  • Uses basic hand tools, drills, power tools, and measuring equipment to complete tasks.
  • Drills holes, installs fasteners, route, and trims parts, and applies primers and sealants.
  • Mixes, applies, and works around sealants, solvents, paints, and chemicals per specification requirements.
  • Bends, stoops, squats, sits, twists, and works above head height for various periods of time during the workday.
  • Works in various conditions, including on ladders, lifts, and on aircraft using harnesses.
  • Wears PPE as provided and required for job tasks.
  • Works extended hours, including alternate shifts and weekends, to support the flight test schedule.
  • Travels up to 10%.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
