About The Position

DigitalOcean is seeking a Staff Technical Product Marketing Manager to join their Technical Product Evangelism team. This role is distinct from traditional Product Marketing Manager and Developer Advocate roles, focusing on hands-on technical content creation in service of the company's narrative. As the most senior member of the team, this individual will shape the function, define standards, and guide the work of other evangelists. The role involves significant public speaking, content creation for executive appearances, and building technical campaigns, particularly in the AI space. The position is based in San Francisco or requires willingness to relocate, with regular in-person presence at Bay Area events being core to the role.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in technical marketing, product marketing, solutions engineering, developer relations, or technical content.
  • Experience setting direction for a content function or body of work.
  • A track record as a speaker with stage presence at conferences or industry events.
  • Sufficient technical depth to be credible with AI engineers and infrastructure teams, with hands-on ability to build demos, record walkthroughs, explain inference economics, and compare products.
  • Fluency with AI-assisted creation, using AI coding and content tools to produce polished assets quickly.
  • Experience partnering directly with executives on high-stakes content.
  • Ability to hold two modes at once: personal credibility as a speaker and craft satisfaction in making someone else's story excellent.
  • Based in San Francisco or willing to relocate; regular in-person presence at Bay Area events is core to the role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at an AI infrastructure, developer tools, or cloud company.
  • An active technical presence on X, with an engaged audience of AI practitioners.
  • Experience mentoring or leading other content creators, formally or informally.
  • Familiarity with how LLMs and AI coding tools shape technical purchasing decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the function: Define the standards, operating rhythm, and prioritization for technical evangelism, including executive engagements, campaigns, and quality standards.
  • Guide the work of other evangelists on the team.
  • Deliver talks yourself, roughly half your time, representing DigitalOcean on stage at conferences, meetups, and customer-facing events.
  • Serve as the primary content partner to DigitalOcean's executives, owning decks, narratives, and preparation for leadership appearances.
  • Create deep technical content for product launches and industry moments, including videos, demos, threads, and posts.
  • Build and run brand-aligned technical campaigns, including hands-on labs, workshop materials, and in-person programming for enterprise AI-native accounts.

Benefits

  • Competitive array of benefits to support well-being.
  • Employee Assistance Program.
  • Local Employee Meetups.
  • Flexible time off policy.
  • Reimbursement for relevant conferences, training, and education.
  • Access to LinkedIn Learning's 10,000+ courses.
  • Bonus in addition to base salary (based on company and individual performance).
  • Equity compensation, including equity grants upon hire and the option to participate in the Employee Stock Purchase Program.
