About The Position

Watsco is a Fortune 500 company and the leading distributor of HVAC/R equipment and supplies. We're obsessed with growth, so we need to grow our team. We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as a Staff Tax Accountant. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with a bachelor's degree in accounting and a minimum of one full busy seasons in a public accounting firm. Our teams are currently working a hybrid schedule. They are in the office Tuesday through Thursday, and work from home on Monday and Friday.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required
  • One tax season in public accounting preferred
  • Preparation of Federal 1120, 1065 and state tax returns is required
  • Knowledgeable in Excel
  • Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions.
  • Communicates changes and progress.
  • Writes clearly and informatively; Presents numerical data effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA and/or Masters in Tax is a plus
  • Knowledgeable in OneSource or GoSystems tax preparation software and tax research software
  • Knowledgeable in Sage Fixed Assets is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare corporate and partnership federal, state and local tax returns. Must have 1120C and 1065 experience.
  • Prepare extensions, estimated payments, withholding payments for corporations.
  • Responsible for assisting in the preparation of the year-end and quarterly tax provisions for corporations.
  • Examines accounts and records and computes taxes owed according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations.
  • Assist with responses to notices from taxing authorities and field audits.
  • Completes forms for tax refunds.
  • Advises management regarding effects of business activities on taxes, and on strategies for minimizing tax liability.
  • Ensures that organization complies with information reporting and other taxing authority requirements.
  • Organizes and maintains tax records and conducts tax studies and special projects.
  • Provides tax advice to organization.
  • Perform tax research as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
