The Staff Support assists the clinical team with various duties that may include: Responds to the immediate needs of the patient by answering patient call lights promptly and courteously. As directed, by RN, makes hourly or more frequent rounds on patients for safety, comfort, and meeting patients’ needs/requests Positions, lifts, transfers, and ambulates patients as directed by the RN Assist with setting up meals for patients and ordering meals Keeps patient rooms tidy, refreshes patient’s linen as need, removes unnecessary equipment and linen Assists patient with simple hygiene/comfort measures such as washing hands/face and oral care As directed by the RN, transports patient to other departments or when patient being discharge When directed by the RN, remains with the patient continuously for patient safety. Handles infectious waste and linen according to established hospital procedure Adheres to proper infection control standards and hand washing techniques to avoid cross contamination Cleans and disinfects unit specific equipment "Runner" to other departments, when needed to obtain necessary items for patient care
