This role is responsible for ensuring suppliers meet Intuitive Surgical Inc. (ISI) requirements for quality, service, delivery, and cost. The engineer will drive suppliers to continuously improve their business and manufacturing processes, evaluate and select suppliers, and guide Engineering in choosing suppliers for new products while providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to new designs. The position supports New Product Introduction (NPI) by monitoring and working with suppliers to improve their performance. The engineer will execute detailed projects with suppliers to implement changes and improvements affecting quality, cost, capacity, risk, and sub-supplier management. The ideal candidate will have broad and deep hands-on machining and secondary process operations experience (e.g., passivation, heat treatment, electropolishing). This role has a high impact on Intuitive’s core business and products, and self-motivated, driven candidates are encouraged to apply. The chosen candidate will work with highly specialized internal and external SMEs and have autonomy over multiple key decisions.
