Requirements

  • MA/MS degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • CCC-SLP form ASHA.
  • NY State license in Speech Pathology.
  • Continuing education required by NYS for maintaining licensure.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

  • NYS Certification as Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD).

Responsibilities

  • Provides speech-language pathology services under supervision.
  • Develops, implements, amends, and evaluates speech-language pathology treatment programs based on patient needs and goals, utilizing medical and psycho-social information.
  • Conducts group and individual therapy sessions, orienting patients and caregivers to treatment and interpreting the SLP role.
  • Documents treatments rendered and patient attendance accurately and confidentially, adhering to departmental protocols and insurance guidelines.
  • Interprets assessment findings to patients and families, providing information on the nature of SLP, recovery, and psychosocial impact.
  • Effectively assesses patients' communication function and abilities, screens for SLP assessment needs, and assigns accurate FIM and WEE FIM ratings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
