About The Position

At Aerostar, a business unit of TCOM LP, the Staff Solutions Engineer will serve as the technical liaison between the company's stratospheric balloon technology and customer needs. This role involves working with clients in defense, telecommunications, and environmental monitoring to translate their requirements into practical solutions. The position also contributes to the commercial strategy by analyzing market positioning and competitive advantages of the technology.

Requirements

• Engineering background (Aerospace, EE, Systems, or similar).
• Ability to speak confidently about link budgets, payload integration, and atmospheric conditions.
• Customer-focused with strong skills in the 'discovery' phase of client interaction.
• Strategic thinking abilities, including understanding pricing, competitive models, and pitching technology as a business solution.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field preferred.
• Strong background in commercial data sales, focusing on market and strategy.
• 10+ years of job experience preferred, with 4+ years as a technical or business leader.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in Commercial Imagery/Remote Sensing.
• Experience selling or integrating SAR, EO/IR, or hyperspectral data.
• MBA, PMP, or Systems certifications.

Responsibilities

• Partner with customers to understand their pain points and design mission profiles using stratospheric platforms, payloads, and partner technology.
• Translate complex technical requirements from customers into actionable insights for internal Product and R&D teams.
• Analyze the competitive landscape to help refine the company's value proposition and identify target markets.
• Lead technical demonstrations and pilot programs to showcase the return on investment of near-space solutions.
• Oversee the technical feasibility of payload integrations, ensuring customer sensors and technology are optimized for the stratospheric environment.
