About The Position

DoorDash is seeking Staff Backend Engineers to build and evolve large-scale, highly available systems powering its three-sided marketplace of consumers, merchants, and Dashers. The role may be on Product teams, which translate business problems into scalable technical solutions at the intersection of product and infrastructure, or Product Platform teams, which build foundational systems and capabilities that help product teams work quickly and reliably. Staff Engineers set technical direction, lead complex cross-team initiatives, and shape the architecture and long-term roadmap of critical systems. They work with Engineering, Product, Design, and other stakeholders to evaluate trade-offs and deliver solutions with customer and business impact. They also mentor engineers, improve engineering practices, and help teams navigate ambiguous, high-impact technical challenges. This is a hybrid role with some in-office time expected and reports to an Engineering Manager.
