Staff Software Engineer
About The Position
ServiceNow is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to build and enhance products using its AI platform. The role involves creating high-quality, clean, scalable, and reusable code while following software engineering best practices, including code reviews and unit testing. The engineer partners with developers and product owners to understand requirements and owns work from design and implementation through test automation and delivery. The role also contributes to designing software that customers can easily extend and customize, and to developing new products and features while improving the existing product suite. The position calls for enthusiasm for learning and applying AI to developer needs, strong Java coding skills, and experience with web technologies and modern UI frameworks such as React. It requires sound knowledge of software design and performance considerations, analytical and design skills, and working knowledge of common development and system tools. Experience applying AI in work processes is required; familiarity with AI productivity tools such as Windsurf or Cursor is a plus.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience with Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, and NodeJS.
- Experience with data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance and scale considerations.
- Experience with a modern UI framework such as React.
- Analytical and design skills.
- Working knowledge of development and system tools, including IDEs, debuggers, build tools, source control, ServiceNow instances, profilers, and system administration/Unix tools.
- Experience leveraging or critically considering how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving.
Nice To Haves
- Experience using AI productivity tools such as Windsurf or Cursor.
