About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative team. As a Staff Engineer, you will play a key technical leadership role in driving technical excellence, designing and delivering robust solutions, and mentoring other engineers. This is a high-impact role requiring technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration skills. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges, shape our technology roadmap, and contribute to the success of our platform. Stord engineers work within a team to contribute, improve, and scale our software; you'll fully own entire features and influence the specs, build out/modify the back-end (Elixir/Phoenix) and interact with the front-end (React), and own on-going improvements for a product rapidly impacting the entire third-party logistics (3PL) industry. Each member of the team has the ability to impact all aspects of the development process from ideation, design, delivery, maintenance, and operations. This role will collaborate with the team responsible for building, maintaining, and owning theOrder Management System (OMS) and the Consumer Experience (CX) platform. The OMS powers our innovative, world-class logistics network, enabling leading omni-channel brands to achieve significant optimizations and cost savings. Through advanced automation, intelligent routing, and robust order management tools, it ensures that orders are fulfilled in alignment with each client’s unique goals and objectives. Meanwhile, the CX platform serves as Stord's consumer-facing solution, enabling our clients’ customers to engage seamlessly with their brands through pre and post-purchase interactions, enhancing the overall consumer experience.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Staff Engineer or in a similar level engineering role.
  • Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale distributed systems or complex applications.
  • Strong proficiency in Elixir or other functional programming languages.
  • Solid understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, and system architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor engineers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of working effectively in cross-functional teams.

  • Partner with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize work, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality features.
  • Set and uphold high standards for code quality, testing, and software development practices.
  • Influence and shape the technology strategy and contribute to the evolution of the engineering organization.
  • Lead cross-team technical initiatives and contribute to scaling processes, tools, and technologies.
