About The Position

This role is responsible for leading the design and evolution of enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure that underpins a large-scale data platform on AWS. As a Staff Engineer, you will define architectural standards, ensure alignment with security and compliance requirements, and enable multiple teams to build and operate reliable, scalable data systems. You will work across organizational boundaries to influence platform direction, drive adoption of best practices, and ensure the infrastructure supports high-volume data ingestion, processing, and analytics workloads. The role requires both strategic oversight and hands-on technical leadership in building resilient, cost-efficient, and observable systems in a complex enterprise environment.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in AWS services (e.g., S3, EKS/ECS, Lambda, RDS, Redshift, IAM, VPC) and enterprise cloud architecture
  • Strong experience designing and operating large-scale data platforms (data lakes, lakehouses, batch and streaming systems)
  • Advanced proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and automation practices
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and performance optimization
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS) in production environments
  • Experience designing and operating API gateway, ingress, and service-to-service communication patterns in AWS environments, including authentication, authorization, throttling, routing, observability, and security controls.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of cloud security, identity (IAM), networking, and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO, SOC2)
  • Experience implementing observability (monitoring, logging, tracing) and reliability engineering practices
  • Experience with Kong API Gateway or similar API gateway platforms is a plus
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and platform engineering approaches for self-service infrastructure
  • Ability to influence architecture across teams and operate effectively in a large, matrixed enterprise environment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Mentorship and technical leadership experience, guiding engineers and setting engineering standards
