About The Position

Supa Health is building an AI-powered operating system to automate administrative tasks in healthcare clinics, such as eligibility verification, prior authorization, claims processing, and intake. The goal is to eliminate manual work for clinic staff, allowing them to focus on patient care. The company has received $5M in funding from Peak XV (formerly Sequoia India) and is focused on rapid development and shipping software that compounds in efficiency. This role is for a founding product engineer who will be the technical center of gravity for the team.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience building production software.
  • Meaningful experience at the senior or staff level.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and Postgres, with strong opinions on their use.
  • Experience designing systems that other engineers maintain long-term.
  • Ability to dive into different technical areas (frontend, backend, infra, AI) as needed.
  • Experience working in an early-stage startup environment.
  • Willingness to engage directly with users (operators and clinic owners).
  • Comfort with setting direction through prototyping and direct team collaboration, rather than solely through documentation.
  • Willingness to work with intensity, beyond a standard 9-to-5.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with agentic AI/LLM systems, including agents, tools, evaluations, and associated plumbing.
  • Understanding of when LLMs are the appropriate solution.
  • Experience in healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM).
  • Familiarity with healthcare clearinghouses and platforms like Availity.

Responsibilities

  • Own architectural decisions for the agent platform, data flow, and ensuring multi-tenancy and HIPAA-grade segregation.
  • Phase work to enable weekly shipping cycles.
  • Set the quality bar for the team through code reviews, conventions, testing, and observability.
  • Break down large tasks into milestones and drive them to completion, unblocking team members.
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including product and leadership.
  • Write code and remain hands-on with the system.
  • Engage with operators and clinic owners to understand their workflows and automate painful parts.
  • Ship features and see them deployed rapidly.
