Staff Software Engineer

JobNimbus•Lehi, UT

About The Position

JobNimbus is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical vision, architecture, and strategic evolution of its billing, subscription, and account management ecosystem. The role partners with engineering, product, finance, and security leadership to build enterprise-grade account hierarchies, robust access-control models, and reliable Chargebee payment integrations that scale with company growth. The engineer will own the long-term architecture and roadmap for subscription, billing, invoicing, and account management systems. They will lead Chargebee integration, design authorization and multi-tenant account structures, write mission-critical production code, and establish dependable event-driven billing and financial transaction systems. The role also raises engineering quality through testing, observability, disaster recovery, and operational practices; mentors engineers; and advances AI-assisted engineering practices.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of software engineering experience and a proven record as a technical leader or architect on mission-critical, high-scale production systems.
  • Deep expertise architecting and integrating subscription platforms such as Chargebee, Stripe Billing, Zuora, or Recurly at scale.
  • Proven experience designing enterprise identity and access-control frameworks (RBAC/ABAC), multi-tenant authorization models, and complex account permission hierarchies.
  • Deep understanding of billing and fintech mechanics, including prorations, payment retry engines, revenue recognition, webhook reliability, idempotency, and transactional consistency.
  • Expert-level backend development skills in C# and/or Node.js, along with distributed systems design, event-driven architectures, and messaging platforms.
  • Deep database expertise in SQL and NoSQL environments.
  • Extensive experience with AWS infrastructure, Docker/Kubernetes containerization, and Terraform Infrastructure as Code.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and ability to work with finance, product, security, and executive stakeholders to resolve ambiguous technical problems.
  • Commitment to mentoring engineers, conducting architectural reviews, and establishing engineering best practices across multiple engineering pods.
  • Demonstrated ownership, customer focus, proactive learning, team commitment, and self-awareness.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Couchbase.

Responsibilities

  • Own the long-term technical roadmap and system architecture for the subscription, billing, invoicing, and account management platform.
  • Architect and lead implementation of Chargebee as the core subscription engine, including resilient, multi-region synchronization across core services and financial databases.
  • Define and drive enterprise security and authorization strategy, including scalable access profiles, RBAC, and fine-grained permissions across multi-tenant account hierarchies.
  • Establish architecture patterns for complex, multi-location, and parent-child account structures that support enterprise pricing and consolidated billing.
  • Write mission-critical production code in C# and Node.js, setting standards for performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Architect event-driven systems and resilient API contracts for asynchronous billing webhooks, automated retries, and fault-tolerant financial transactions.
  • Partner with product, finance, and security executives to align business domain models with scalable technical architectures.
  • Establish testing standards, observability frameworks, disaster recovery strategies, and operational metrics for billing platforms.
  • Mentor and develop senior and mid-level engineers and foster technical excellence, architectural rigor, and domain expertise.
  • Drive adoption of modern AI-assisted engineering practices to improve developer velocity and platform reliability.
