About The Position

Omnissa is seeking a Staff Engineer for the Freestyle team to provide technical leadership in shaping the architecture and design of Freestyle Orchestrator. This platform is a low-code, cross-platform automation and workflow engine for Workspace ONE UEM, enabling IT administrators to automate device management tasks, orchestrate deployments, and enforce compliance across various operating systems and environments. The role involves leading design initiatives, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of the orchestration framework. The engineer will collaborate with product managers, architects, and senior engineers to advance Workspace ONE’s “Autonomous Workspace” vision.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in technical leadership roles.
  • Proven expertise in designing and building distributed systems or SaaS platforms.
  • Strong foundation in modern engineering practices: CI/CD, automated testing, cloud-native architectures, secure SDLC.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to influence technical decisions across teams.
  • Demonstrates deep technical expertise and ownership of complex systems.
  • Inspires and mentors engineers to achieve technical excellence.
  • Operates with curiosity, integrity, and a customer-first mindset.
  • Thrives in solving hard problems and driving impactful outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with workflow engines, orchestration platforms, or device management solutions.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Maven, Artifactory, and cloud deployment pipelines.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for complex technical challenges.
  • Experience with Workspace ONE UEM or similar enterprise mobility platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the architecture and design of major components within Freestyle Orchestrator.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with long-term product strategy.
  • Conduct design reviews, provide technical guidance, and set best practices for coding and architecture.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
  • Collaborate with engineering managers and technical leads to align on priorities and technical direction.
  • Tackle complex technical challenges related to orchestration, workflow execution, and cross-platform integration.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions to improve reliability, performance, and security.
  • Champion quality-first development practices, including automated testing, CI/CD improvements, and secure SDLC compliance.
  • Contribute to incident resolution and root cause analysis for critical issues.
  • Represent Freestyle in architecture discussions and technical forums across the organization.
  • Work closely with SRE, Partner Engineering, and Product teams to resolve dependencies and deliver robust solutions.
