About The Position

AlphaSense is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Expert Research mission, which oversees all expert call services. This collaborative full-stack team is responsible for internal systems supporting over 9,000 monthly expert calls and enhancing user engagement with this content on the AlphaSense frontend. The team utilizes a tech stack including Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, Vue.js, and React. The role involves streamlining workflows for analysts, integrating third-party data, creating new content flywheels, collaborating with ML teams on AI integration, and contributing to user-facing frontends.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience building highly reliable, mission-critical software.
• A strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, such as algorithmic complexity, asynchronicity, and distributed computing.
• Good Knowledge on design and architecture concepts.
• Familiarity with Agile software development processes and software testing.
• Experience in shipping pragmatic and high quality solutions with a sense of urgency
• Track record of technical leadership across teams without formal people management.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving clarity where none exists.
• Ability and desire to work in an open and team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Build robust, well-designed and effective software that solves complex problems.
• Test, review and deploy code quickly.
• Research, learn and share new techniques for solving complex engineering problems.
• Write tools and develop practices for the engineering team.
• Own projects from end-to-end.
• Analyze and design solutions to business problems.
• Mentor senior engineers, shape technical culture, and raise expectations for system design and execution.
• Contribute to long-term technical strategy while remaining hands-on with critical implementations.
